Red Cross Conference

The COBACORE project was widely disseminated at an event organised by the Netherlands Red Cross on Thursday 17th April 2014. Hosted in the former Royal Dutch Mint, a beautiful venue, the Red Cross Congress was extremely well attended. Power to the People featured an impressive programme, including a testimonial session delivered by Kim Anema of the Netherlands Red Cross, a COBACORE partner, relating to the experience of the recovery efforts in Brisbane in 2011. Kim later hosted an open floor workshop centring on the theme of managing offers and requests during response and recovery. Matthias Max, Head of Unit for Security Research, German Red Cross, and also a COBACORE partner, presented on the German experiences including the flood events in 2012.

Trevor Riggen, Vice President for Disaster Operations and Logistics at the American Red Cross, who had met with the COBACORE consortium at a dedicated meeting in The Hague the previous day, delivered an inspiring piece on the American Red Cross including an introduction to the newly commissioned Digital Operations Centre.
